DEFINITION OF
SPAM
Spamming is the
practice of sending unsolicited information
to either a single user or in a mass scale via email. As anyone
with a computer will testify, spam has gotten completely out
of control. In fact, recent statistics show that over the last
ten years, spam has grown to represent almost 80% of total email
and mobile phone traffic with estimated impact to the global
economy of approximately US $25 billion dollars per year. Not
surprisingly, this has caused receivers like Internet Service
Providers (ISPs) and Mobile Carriers to take drastic measures
to not only protect their users, but also the networks themselves.
This includes, but is not limited to anti-virus, anti-spam,
and storage. This puts an enormous amount of strain on the ISP
and Mobile Carriers on top of the already crowded email and
mobile networks.
USE PERMISSION LISTS ONLY
You can only use EkoBuzz to send
email or mobile messages to
lists of people that gave you permission to email or SMS them.
If you send emails to a list, and you get an unusual amount
of spam complaints, ISPs will begin blocking future emails from
your company. They will ask EkoBuzz to shut down your account.
So if you don't have proof that each recipient on your list
opted-in for your emails, don't import them into EkoBuzz.
• No purchased lists.
• No rented lists.
• No 3rd party lists
whatsoever.
You should only use EkoBuzz to send
newsletters, updates, and
promotions to your own customers, or to people who specifically
requested email or mobile marketing from you.
Don't have a permission list yet?
EkoBuzz can help you with
a sign up form that can be hosted on your website to have visitors
to your website opt-in.
If you’ve received unsolicited email
or mobile message from
one of our users, please notify us immediately at abuse@ekobuzz.com.
Every complaint is investigated, and you will receive a response
from our team detailing the action we’re taking to deal with
the issue.
How does EkoBuzz work with our clients
to keep abuse to a minimum?
1. Interview new clients
about both the origins of their mailing
lists and their marketing practices. Clients who do not meet
our standards are not allowed to use the EkoBuzz service.
2. Check each uploaded
mailing list for addresses that appear
scraped (info@, sales@, etc.) or that otherwise indicate that
the mailing list is potentially third party in nature. If we
see anything suspicious, the account is disabled and the client
is contacted.
3. Read most email or
mobile message before they can go out
the door. Email or mobile message sent through our system goes
to a staging area where it is looked over by a member of the
EkoBuzz staff. If we have any concerns, the mailing is stopped
and we contact the client.
4. Immediately open an
investigation if a client receives an
abuse complaint to our abuse address or through one of the feedback
loops we maintain with many Internet and Email Service Providers.
